Intravenous Bioavailability: The Fundamental Advantage

The primary scientific rationale for IV therapy is bioavailability — the fraction of an administered compound that reaches systemic circulation in an unchanged, biologically active form. Oral administration of most vitamins and antioxidants is limited by intestinal absorption capacity, first-pass hepatic metabolism, and gastrointestinal degradation. Glutathione exemplifies this limitation: Witschi et al. (1992) demonstrated that oral glutathione supplementation at 3,000mg produced no statistically significant increase in plasma glutathione levels due to rapid hydrolysis by gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) in the intestinal brush border and hepatic first-pass metabolism. Glutathione IV: Antioxidant Defense and Skin Brightening

Glutathione (gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine, GSH) is the body’s primary intracellular antioxidant, present in every mammalian cell at concentrations of 1-10 millimolar.
