Why 755nm Outperforms 1064nm for Melanin Targets

The melanin absorption coefficient at 755nm is 3 times higher than at 1064nm. This fundamental physics principle means PicoSure’s alexandrite wavelength can fragment melanin particles at substantially lower energy densities than Nd:YAG 1064nm lasers. Lower fluence requirement translates directly to reduced thermal collateral damage, which is the primary driver of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) in Asian skin.
